About the Blog
I don't think I need to tell you anything about myself here; after all, the entire blog is (perhaps narcissistically) about me. Instead, I will explain the purpose of this website.
I did not create this blog to convince you that my way of life is good or right--any insights or advice you receive are merely my attempt at sharing what I have learned about life and myself.
I recently heard someone say "You have to be somebody before you can be a leader." I liked that. It stuck with me because I like helping people but at the end of the day I am nobody. I have no fame or fortune, have not mastered any craft, and I'm sure as hell not Oprah.
But here's where I do have authority: figuring out ways to make myself into somebody than the current version of Rachel. I am constantly looking for ways to make myself better, of fixing my many, many flaws. And you know what? I've made giant leaps of progress. I want to put this journey onto the web (and potentially into the hands of future employers who will see it and decide to sack me) because if I can inspire or inform even one person in a positive manner, then I will have made a contribution to the world.
So, I have organized the blog according to what I feel are the core principles to making myself better: positivity, community, ambition, integrity, organization, and education/skills. Some of these are not my strong areas. At all. But we'll work on them together!
